Recollections VR
Overview

ReCollections is a virtual reconstruction of my own childhood room. Rebuilt not from photographs, but completely from memory. Because of this, some objects appear fuzzy, distorted or incomplete, reflecting the way certain details fade and warp over time.

Although the space is personal, the project is designed to evoke nostalgia in others: There is something special about recognizing a toy you once owned, a poster you vaguely remember, or a piece of furniture that feels strangely familiar. This VR experience invites you to step into my room, but ultimately, I hope to help you rediscover your own.

About this Project

ReCollections started as a more personal quest to remember my childhood bedroom, but turned into an interactive experience along the way when I was receiving feedback from peers that they resonated with the project and experienced their own nostalgia when they recognized an object that they too, held close to their own childhood. What I had believed to be a deeply individual memory was surprisingly shared among many others. Using this feedback, I chose to turn my 3D environment into an interactive VR experience, allowing others to more closely interact with and immerse themselves in the experience. My goal was to use the immersive medium of VR to invoke nostalgic feelings in others after experiencing my project.
